2013 President’s Council Garden Party

2013 Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) Presidents Council Garden Party

Christina Markos

This year at the annual Garden Party, the President’s Council welcomed Madeleine (Maddy) Jacobson, who became the Santa Barbara City College Foundation Board’s 15th President in July 2013. Having moved from Boston seven years ago, Jacobson was eager to find a new home for time and talents, “Almost everyone in Santa Barbara has some connection to our school and my goal as President of the Board is to continue to increase that awareness and encourage our community to support SBCC,” she explained.

The gorgeous event was held in the garden of the new president and her husband Peter’s home and was a “thank you” to the council’s generous givers. The President’s Council is the cornerstone of philanthropic support for the SBCC Foundation,  and its members share a commitment to the College and its students. By providing unrestricted resources, the Council enables the Foundation to raise funds that support the highest priority needs of the College. As a member, the Adelle Davis Foundation reaches the community in many ways, including giving out four scholarship awards annually. The Adelle Davis Foundation Scholarship in Nutrition Studies was established to assist SBCC students pursuing nutrition studies, either in anticipation of a career in nutrition or as a component of their chosen academic or vocational discipline. Here at the Foundation we are so proud of our SBCC students who have gone on to  pursue their educational and career goals in this field.  They are helping to preserve the legacy of Adelle Davis by encouraging their community to lead a healthy lifestyle.
